Founder and President
As president of SBK Financial, Kevin King provides tax, financial, estate and investment counseling strategies to high net-worth individuals, small business owners and corporate executives. His experience includes advising on tax issues related to wealth transfer planning, individual income tax planning and compliance, trusts, estates and charitable giving.
Prior to co-founding SBK in 2005, Kevin managed the Richmond Virginia Financial Counseling Practice at Ernst & Young for 17 years, where he earned a reputation as a respected and innovative advisor in the area.
He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William & Mary, and has pursued additional tax studies through the William & Mary LLM program. He’s a certified public accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Kevin is a member of the AICPA and its tax and personal financial planning divisions.
Andrea Broughton, CPA
Founder and Managing Partner
In her role as vice president and managing partner of SBK Financial, Andrea Broughton specializes in providing integrated investment advisory, tax, retirement, estate and other financial planning services to high net-worth individuals and executives. She provides attentive service to clients based on knowledge of their needs and goals. Andrea especially enjoys working with executives to help them understand and maximize what is available to them through their often complex benefit plans.
Prior to forming SBK, Andrea worked in the financial counseling practice at Ernst & Young, spending more than 10 years in Ernst & Young’s Boston and Richmond offices. Early in her Ernst & Young career, Andrea audited a number of Fortune 500 companies and mutual funds. She believes her prior work as an auditor has been invaluable, allowing her to look behind the numbers in evaluating investment and business opportunities for the clients’ benefit.
Andrea is a certified public accountant who graduated magna cum laude from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is actively involved in the Richmond community, serving as the treasurer of the Brookfield Foundation and on the board of the Richmond YWCA. She is passionate about clients and the Richmond community, but her true passion is her family. When not at SBK, Andrea is often found supporting her son and two daughters at various athletic venues across Richmond.
Claire E. Craighill, CFP®
Claire Craighill joined SBK Financial in 2007. As a partner at the Richmond-based firm, she specializes in legacy wealth relationships including portfolio construction, trust and estate planning, coordination of independent trustee services and family financial governance.
Previously Claire was a senior vice president and high net-worth client advisor for SunTrust Banks, Inc. She also served as a financial counselor for many high net-worth Richmond families and has more than 25 years of experience in the industry.
The opportunity to provide independent wealth management services without conflict of interest drew Claire to SBK a decade ago, and she remains committed today to the value and authenticity of the business model, citing the quality of people on the team, the integrated services SBK delivers, and the caliber of clients the firm attracts.
A graduate of Hollins University and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Claire has been a long-time member of the Financial Planning Association of Virginia and the Estate Planning Council of Richmond Virginia.
When she’s not working, Claire enjoys being active and spending time in the Blue Ridge mountains with her husband and two daughters. A little-known fact about Claire is that she once played at Carnegie Hall with America’s Youth in Concert program.
Stephanie F. Stumpf, CPA, CFP®
Partner and Chief Compliance Officer
Stephanie Stumpf serves as partner and advisor who works closely with corporate executives and other high net-worth individuals to develop and implement wealth strategies unique to each family’s needs. As chief compliance officer, she is responsible for the firm’s compliance with federal and state security regulations.
Prior to joining SBK Financial, Stephanie was a manager in the assurance and advisory business services practice at Ernst & Young.
Stephanie holds a BS in Commerce and an MS in Accounting from the University of Virginia. She is a certified public accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs.
Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and cheering for her two daughters at various activities and sporting events.
Nancy G. Cochran, CPA
As tax director for SBK Financial, Nancy Cochran specializes in strategic tax planning for individuals and families, including their limited partnerships, trusts and private foundations. Nancy has experience in income and estate tax planning and compliance for individuals, as well as tax planning and compliance for partnerships and fiduciaries.
At SBK, Nancy values the opportunity to work collaboratively with investment advisors throughout the year to help clients take advantage of income and estate tax opportunities as they present themselves—a team approach unique in the industry.
Early in her career, Nancy discovered the satisfaction of tax planning because it allowed her to build close relationships with clients and help them simplify their personal and financial lives. She developed an expertise in tax strategies while working with Peat Marwick Mitchell, now KPMG, and with McGladrey LLP. She later established her own practice as Nancy G. Cochran, CPA.
Nancy received her BBA degree in Accounting, with distinction, from The George Washington University, and is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). In her free time, Nancy enjoys spending time outdoors with family, listening to country music, and attending Bible study and art galleries. “Either life entails courage or it ceases to be life,” is a favorite quote of Nancy’s, by E.M. Forster.
Associate Wealth Advisor
When asked what she likes most about her job, Sarah Harris says, “working with smart people and providing clients with helpful plans and service.” In Sarah’s role at SBK Financial as associate wealth advisor, she assists senior advisors in meeting preparation and follow-up. Sarah also assists with various strategies including asset allocation, wealth transfer, company stock, education, insurance and charitable planning.
Sarah, who joined SBK in 2014, has a decade of experience in wealth management, and spent several years as a trust advisor with SunTrust Banks, Inc. SBK suits her for two reasons: The firm allows her to learn from peers, and provides flexible work arrangements which are helpful to mothers like her with school-age children.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Washington and Lee University, Sarah is a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. She’s married and has a son and daughter—and a black lab puppy. In her off-time she’s active, running, strength-training, hiking and playing tennis.
Associate Wealth Advisor
Christian Mijares was looking to become a part of a collaborative environment, where team members strive toward the same goals. He found the right workplace at SBK Financial. As an associate wealth advisor, Christian enjoys impacting people and families in a positive way. “My goal is that they may have peace of mind when it comes to their finances, and futures.” His responsibilities include research, working with senior advisors to produce custom financial plans, and communicating with clients to help assure SBK wealth management services are provided efficiently and effectively.
Previously a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, Christian was attracted to SBK’s team-oriented environment where everyone has an interest in each other, and in their clients.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Geneva College, and when he’s not in the office he’s involved in the Richmond soccer community. He currently holds a U.S. Soccer E Coaching license and coaches various age groups with Richmond Strikers.
Nicole Boike, CPA
Associate Tax Advisor
In her role at SBK Financial, Nicole Boike works closely with the tax team, as well as with the firm’s integrated planning and investment professionals. Her responsibilities include assisting senior tax advisors with tax planning strategies; preparing client returns (individual and entity), quarterly estimates and meeting deliverables; and conducting research. She appreciates SBK’s culture, and working in a flexible environment with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds from whom she can learn.
Nicole spent three years with PwC as a senior tax associate before joining SBK as an associate tax advisor in 2015. She made the move to gain more experience working with a wide range of clients with a variety of tax situations.
A graduate of the University of Richmond, Nicole looks forward to taking yearly family vacations, attending live music shows, snowboarding and other outdoor activities.
Kelly Hazlett, CPA
Associate Tax Advisor
Kelly joined SBK as an associate tax advisor in 2017. He specializes in tax return preparation, planning, and research.
Prior to joining the firm, Kelly was a tax associate at The Roseline Financial Group, LLC, where he gained experience providing tax compliance services for high net-worth individuals, partnerships, trusts, and foundations.
A certified public accountant, he has a post-baccalaureate certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BS from Virginia Tech in Building Construction.
In his free time, Kelly enjoys playing guitar, reading and traveling.
Amanda Schwab, CPA
Associate Tax Advisor
Amanda Schwab joined SBK Financial in 2014. With a background primarily in business taxation, she was up for a new challenge: Learning tax planning and compliance to help high net-worth individuals grow and protect their wealth. “I enjoy the type of work I am doing and getting to know our clients, who are unique and interesting,” she said. The associate tax advisor also noted that she appreciates working with a team that is supportive of one another, and fun. “Everyone here cares about our clients and wants to provide them with the best possible service.”
Amanda previously served as an income tax manager with the largest used car retailer in the U.S., and as a manager with Deloitte Tax. She has an MS in Accounting and Tax Consulting from the University of Virginia, a post-baccalaureate certificate in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a BA in sociology from the University of Virginia.
Married with a school-age son and daughter (and a Goldendoodle), Amanda keeps this adage at heart: “Treat others how you want to be treated.”
Mary Lee Morris, CPA
As accounting manager, Mary Lee Morris handles the firm’s internal accounting, financial reporting, payroll processing and reporting, benefits coordination and office management. She’s been with SBK since 2010, and values the supportive people, flexible environment and opportunities to learn new skills.
Mary Lee has been in the industry for a number of years: She was previously an auditor with Ernst & Young, and served as a financial reporting supervisor and manager of a major electronics retailer. She has a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia and is a certified public accountant.
The Richmond native is married and has three children. Her family enjoys the beach, time outdoors and sporting events together. She likes to stay active and enjoys running and supporting charitable organizations and schools during her free time. Mary Lee’s favorite quote is one by Albert Einstein: “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.”
Carol L. Bollinger
Client Service Administrator
Carol Bollinger’s position at SBK Financial involves the set-up and maintenance of client accounts. Of her teammates, Carol likes that “we have each other’s backs … and we want everyone to succeed in their jobs. Everyone works together to ensure our clients feel welcome and appreciated.”
Before joining the firm in 2009 as a client service administrator, Carol worked in client-facing roles in the banking industry, as a new accounts supervisor, client service representative and assistant teller supervisor. Her experience also includes community involvement, including with Habitat for Humanity and the Community Tool Bank. She noted that at SBK, “I feel valued as an employee—management listens to what employees have to say. They make sure all of us have the tools we need to be successful, and we work together and have fun as a team.”
Carol has lived in five states, and stays busy in her personal time with her son, daughter and three wonderful grandchildren. The Serenity Prayer serves her well as a guide to life.
Client Service Administrator
Providing service to SBK clients, handling business management issues and trading and portfolio administration top the list of Melissa Farber’s responsibilities at the firm. Her goal from an operations point of view is helping SBK Financial run as efficiently as possible. From a client-service point of view, it’s making sure clients are satisfied.
Melissa worked at Merrill Lynch in New Jersey for seven years in a variety of service and operational roles, and also spent five years as an operations specialist at a Richmond-based financial services firm. In 2017, she came to SBK as a client service administrator, drawn by the firm’s reputation, people and opportunities.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Drew University where she played basketball, and was part of the team inducted into the school’s hall of fame. Melissa is married and has a young son, a daughter on the way and a Goldendoodle, Otis.
Receptionist and Administrative Assistant
Why did Teresa Mozingo join SBK? She was attracted to the firm’s team of like-minded individuals intent upon delivering service customized to individual client needs. “I like working in an engaging environment with a lively team of colleagues,” she said. Teresa notes that everyone at SBK Financial is supportive of each other, which is reflected in how clients are treated.
The Richmond native has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, working as an associate wealth management advisor, a compliance associate, and a loan officer. Teresa is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Communications Studies (public relations major and marketing minor), where she also studied industrial/organizational psychology.
She, her husband, and their rescue cat live in the country, where she enjoys gardening, traveling, photography and attending live concerts.
